Welcome to the Intricate Floor Styles BBoy Crew

IFSBC Home Page!

This is the home page of the intricate floor styles bboy crew. We are a breaking crew in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. This site has been set up as an aid to any aspiring bboys and bgirls that are trying to get into the game. Later on in the year we will add a disscussion forum to the site so as to easily facilitate meetings for bboys and bgirls living within the same general areas.

Before going any further here is a breif history of breakdancing:

Breakdancing started in the late 70's and was a predominantly Puerto Rican past time. It originated in the Bronx, and other inner city neighbourhoods in New York. Its styles and creation drew from the Brazilian Martial art 'Capeoira', kung fu, gymnastics, and other dances as well. Other dances sometimes associated with breaking are Popping, Locking, Electric Boogaloo, Tutting, and much more.

The dance gained much popularity in the 80's with crews such as the Rocksteady crew, and the Nigger Twins. Some movies were made, and it lost its popularity. The phrase Breakdance was coined by the media, most bboys prefer to be referred to as bboys. Meaning break boy or bronx boy depending on who has taught you.

The dance went into a decline with few heads still breaking in the late 80's and early 90's, but it cam back with a vengence in the late 90's and on. And I am determined to make sure it does not go back into decline thus I spread the word.

Breakdancing is now a part of the 4 elements of hip hop culture, emceeing (rapping), turntablism (djing, scratching, etc...), tagging (Graffiti), and (breaking). This is a misconception as there are far more than just 4 elements, but in an attempt to keep it simple for non heads to understand, these are the 4 main elements.

If you would like to learn more about hip hop culture, follow the links provided to their respectoive sites where the innovators and some of the new school crews have put up more information for your perusal.
